1 December - The End of More? with Aboodi Shabi

It’s not hard to see that we are facing great uncertainty in the world today – economic crises, environmental concerns, social and political challenges, all of which require our attention.

In this provocative conversation, transformational coach and speaker, Aboodi Shabi will be exploring the idea that we need to face the end of more – the paradigm we have been living in for the last 500 years that more is always good, and always achievable. Rather than merely focussing on more of the same, maybe it’s time to explore a future with less, and how to meet that possible future with ambition and peace rather than fear and scarcity.

Join us if you are a coach working with others and discover an entirely different kind of coaching conversation; business leaders will also find plenty in this evening to provoke and stimulate your thinking about new ways to move forward in the current climate.

Aboodi Shabi is one of the UK's most senior coaches, and a pioneer and leader in the UK and European Coaching community.

He has worked in the field of personal development for over twenty years, and in coaching since 1996. In that time, he has worked with hundreds of coaches across the world.

Aboodi runs, and teaches in, workshops and seminars for coaches across Europe and North America, as well as working with leaders, and presenting on leadership issues and presence across Europe.

He is currently European Director of Coaching and Training for Newfield Network. He is also an invited facilitator on mastery in coaching for various European coaching schools, as well as being a regular speaker on the coaching conference circuit across Europe.

Testimonials:

“Aboodi is a  man forged by the collision of different cultural worlds, in such a way that he can speak from compassion and firmness so as to greatly serve others.” - Julio Olalla – Master Coach and founder of Newfield Network.

"You are very knowledgeable about coaching in my opinion and you express your knowledge with clarity and humility. You are great at holding the attention of your audience too. That seems a lot like emotional intelligence, the bedrock on which all good coaches must stand." - Sir John Whitmore – author of “Coaching for Performance”

3 November - Me, Inc: Presenting Yourself As A Memorable Brand with Jenny Flintoft

What words spring to mind when you think of Tesco? Nike? HBOS?

Equally, what words are conjured up for you when you think of Bill Gates? David Beckham? Margaret Thatcher?

As it is important for organisations and businesses to have a strong, recognised, brand, so it is for us as individuals. Whether we run our own businesses, or work within an organisation, we're constantly leaving a memory trace for other people through our interactions with them. Every conversation; gesture; action; communication gets added together to form a consistent picture of who you are and what you represent.

Are you creating the right brand image for people to engage with you and trust you? Do you set the example to follow? Having a strong personal brand can differentiate you from the others and can absolutely contribute to your personal success. In this interactive session, we’ll explore:

  • The key characteristics of a strong personal brand
  • What specific strengths, qualities and talents contribute to your own personal brand
  • Simple, practical ways you can “advertise and market” your brand every day – in a way that is personally authentic
  • What pressures your brand could come under – and how to withstand these pressures so your brand stays consistent and firm

Jenny Flintoft works with people who are committed to raising their game and making a positive difference within their own lives and the businesses in which they work. She has carved out an inspiring track record of working with and developing hundreds of leaders, coaches and individuals across the world and is consistently described as dynamic, passionate, practical, challenging, supportive......and as "human caffeine!" Always striving to be an exceptional role model in her consultancy, coaching and facilitation, it is Jenny's personal quest to inspire and encourage others in all their encounters with her and to enable them to feel fired up, energised and purposeful in the work they do.

Making Better Decisions with NLP with Andy Smith - October 2009

How good are your decisions? Society presents us with an ever-increasing array of choices that would have made our ancestors' heads spin - who to date, whether to take that job, which car to buy, should I set up in business on my own...?

Are you consistently surprised and delighted by how well your decisions turn out, or do you sometimes end up disappointed (and maybe thousands of pounds out of pocket) because you missed something? NLP can help!

If you are NLP trained, you probably know already about the importance of clarifying your values and checking the 'ecology' of your decisions - so the material in this evening's session will be going beyond the obvious.

Come to this evening workshop and try out some strategies for making better decisions:

  • The most important pattern for making consistently good decisions
  • How to get beyond 'decision trances' that filter out important information
  • The dangers of 'groupthink', and how to avoid it
  • How to involve your unconscious mind for emotionally intelligent decision-making

This evening really could change your life!

Andy Smith is an emotional intelligence coach, ANLP-accredited NLP trainer and author of Achieve Your Goals: Strategies To Transform Your Life (Dorling Kindersley 2006). He is the organiser of the Manchester Business NLP and Emotional Intelligence Group.

1 September - Enhancing Emotional Intelligence with the DISC Profile with Robin Hills

DISC (dominance, influence, steadiness and compliance) is the world's most widely used work-based inventory offered by a number of different companies (eg Thomas PPA, Discus, Insights, etc.). DISC is a useful tool in NLP and emotional intelligence as it can be used to educate people in self awareness and effective communication in order to change patterns of mental and emotional behaviour. DISC has been awarded a four star rating by the British Psychological Society for criterion-related validity and overall reliabilty, which is the highest rating for a behavioural assessment instrument.

This interactive session will look at how DISC works in interpersonal communication from an emotional intelligence perspective. Whether you are new to DISC or have many years' experience of using this tool, the session will be of interest offering new insights into its use and application within the area of emotional intelligence.

When you book your place, you will have the opportunity to complete a Thomas Personal Profile Analysis DISC behavioural assessment at no charge. These usually retail at around £150. This will give you a more in depth understanding of DISC from a personal level. The results will be confidential, and will be made available to you when you attend on 1 September.
